Dear Church Family,
Christmas will be here before we know it. Are we ready to celebrate this gift of grace through God's son, Jesus? One of the ways of preparation for the celebration of Jesus birth is the traditions of Advent.
Advent, from a historic perspective, is a recent tradition tracing its roots to Germany in the 1800's and not arriving in the United States until the 1930's. This time of preparation reminds us of God's gift and the promise that Jesus will return.
Each Sunday of Advent is designated one of God's promises. These promises in order are: hope, peace, love and joy. Hope that is ours by faith in Jesus as our Savior and hope that Jesus will return and establish his kingdom on earth.
Peace that can only be found in Jesus. A peace in our spirit that can only be found in our relationship with Christ as known in the Holy Spirit.
God's love that is so great, he sent his only begotten Son to pay the ultimate price for you and I to be redeemed in our relationship with God. Jesus also lived as our example of how we as human beings can love God with every part of our being and love each other. Jesus, out of his love for God and his love for us was willing to die on the Cross.
God desires that we all would know the joy of being a faithful follower of Jesus. Joy deep within that over shadows all else. A sense of God with us every moment of every day.
Here are a couple of ways to engage this time of preparation. One is to search the scriptures for the theme of the week: hope, peace, love and joy. If you do not have a concordance it is easy to search on line. My favorite site is: https://www.biblegateway.com/. On this site you can search any given word found in scripture. During the search and reading of scripture ask that the Holy Spirit will teach God's meaning of each verse.
Another way is to join the Sunday School Class on each Sunday morning of Advent which will focus upon the advent themes. The class is titled: A Savior is Born. We will meet in the fellowship hall in the basement at 9:00 am. If you would like to be a part of the study you can access the videos and study guides through rightnow MEDIA. To register for your own account email Stephanie Shelton at: firstname.lastname@example.org and request an invitation to rightnow MEDIA. After you sign in you will have access to many great resources.
How will you prepare for the celebration of Jesus birth this year? As we prepare for the celebration of Christmas let us prepare as much spiritually as we do for all the other activities that go along with Christmas.
May you know the hope, peace, love and Joy of God,
Breathe Together and Join the Uprising
Our next day of prayer and fasting, as called for by Bishop Palmer is on Friday, December 4, 2015. The theme for December is incarnation.
Finance & Stewardship
Facts, Figures, & FYI's
2016 Stewardship Campaign: We had a very blessed worship service for our "New Consecration Sunday" Stewardship Campaign on November 15th at Waterville Primary School. Following the message by our guest speaker, Rev. Rae Lynn Schleif, we presented our 2016 Estimate of Giving Cards and then enjoyed an awesome catered meal. We give thanks and praise for the 47 commitments we received totaling $150,400. It was a terrific start toward meeting the financial goals necessary to help support God's work for the coming year. If you were not able to attend, we will gladly accept your Estimate of Giving Cards at any time. You may place them in the offering, send via US Mail, drop them off in the Church Office or send an email to Tom Wiggins at the address listed below.
2016 Giving Envelopes: Your 2016 Giving Envelopes will be available on Sunday, December 6th on the shelf outside the church office. Please make every effort to pick them up, as it quite expensive to mail them.
2015 Giving Statements: Since we continue to have emailing issues with the software used to maintain individual giving records, everyone will receive a hardcopy of their final 2015 giving. They will be available on Sunday, January 10, 2016, on the shelf outside the church office. Please make every effort to pick them up, in order to save mailing costs. We will be converting to the updated software in January, which should not only eliminate our emailing problem, but also enhance our record keeping capabilities.
Please contact the Church Office email@example.com or Tom Wiggins firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions about anything related to finance or stewardship.
Our thanks to the Staff/Parish Relations Committee for hosting the "Grazing Potluck" on November 1. Many thanks, also, to everyone who shared their wonderful appetizers. We are so blessed to be sharing in ministry with you here at Waterville Church.
Love in Christ........Pastor Mike & Pam

Adult Advent Bible Study
Have you ever thought about the intricate details of the first Christmas? How Mary handled the startling message from the angel Gabriel? Why God sought fitto first appear to the lowly shepherds, and choose a manger in Bethlehem? Or what it would have been like to stand before a multitude of angels? Join us, beginning Sunday, November 29 at 9:00 a.m. for a four week study entitled "A Savior Is Born" by Peter Briscoe. We will look at the topics of hope, peace, love and joy.
Whenthe Women's Ministry serves a luncheon following a funeral or memorial service, we usually ask for donations of either a salad or a dessert. If you are willing to provide one of these when the occasion arises, will you please sign the sheet on the bulletin board in the hallway? We would like your e-mail address and a phone number. Someone will notify you when there is a need. Thank You!

CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PROGRAM
Be sure to mark your calendar and to attend the Children's Christmas program on Sunday, December 13 during our 10:30 worship service. A curious lizard goes exploring amongst the branches of the family Christmas tree. Along the way, she meets many ornaments that all tell her a different meaning for Christmas. When the lizard finally gets to the top of the tree, she meets the angel. It is then that the lizard discovers the true meaning of Christmas- Jesus is the Reason we Celebrate the Season!
After the Children's Christmas Program, we will be having a special Fellowship Time which will include lots of yummy Christmas cookies. If you would like to provide a plate of cookies, please place your name and phone number on the sign up sheet in the main hallway. Please have your cookies to church by 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 13. If you are dropping them off earlier, please label "For Fellowship Time".
Carovan Christmas Caroling
Lets bundle up and spread Christmas joy! Please bring your family and friends to our Carovan Christmas Caroling event! We will meet at the church Sun December 13th and depart at 6:30pm. Our members that are unable to get to church, or have difficulty doing so, love to have us bring His glory to their doorstep this time of year. Children may bring bells to ring as we sing "Jingle Bells." We will conclude the evening with hot chocolate and cookies in Fellowship Hall. If you enjoy baking this time of year, extra cookies are welcome!!!
