October 2017

Dear Church Family,

The fall is always a very busy time. School, sports, planning for the fast approaching holidays and more. With this time of year, I tend to get overwhelmed with all the business. Yet, I discovered that God can strengthen and guide us through all the circumstances in which we find ourselves. God will provide.

In reference to provision, each fall we focus on how we use all of the resources for the growing of God's kingdom here on earth. This fall our annual stewardship campaign, remember stewardship is using all of our resources, will focus on much more than money. The question for all of us to consider is this: am I being a faithful disciple in the way I use my time, talents and all the other resources God has entrusted to me?

Will the issue of finances be talked about during our five-week focus, yes. The Bible contains more scripture on possessions than almost any other singular topic. Why is this? Jesus made it very clear that our possessions and desires can very easily replace God as the most important things in our lives.

Other questions, where and how is God calling to serve and who has God created you to be? Remember, our service must grow out of our call and our discovery of who God has designed us to be. It is in being a child of God, a brother and sister of Jesus and a disciple in relationship with God that will bring us peace in all circumstances.

Now, I am asking you to be in prayer in three areas of our congregational life together. The first is to seek God's calling for the area of service and stewardship that God desires of each of us. Second, for the present sermon series and bible studies on anxiety that God will set us free. And third for the leadership of our church in the areas of church growth and a new building.

An update on the new building. The Church Leadership team has sent, Building God's Way, a final foot print of their design. They will incorporate the changes and send back the updated conceptual design. Then they will send an all in dollar amount to build the building.

As we pray and serve together remember that God will ask of us more than is comfortable. The spiritual battle we face each day is between our desired comfort and God's planned journey for each of us as faithful disciples of Jesus. That is why we must live by faith. God is bigger and more loving that anyone or anything we face each day.

A great start to each day is this brief prayer; God I love you, thank you for this day as I recommit my life fully to you. Use me to show your love and grace to others. Remind me that you are always with me. Give me the faith and the courage to do your will through the leading of your Holy Spirit.
