October is Pastor Appreciation Month. Please let Pastor Mike know how much we appreciate his ministry here at Waterville United Methodist Church by sending him a card, taking him out to lunch, gift cards to restaurants, buying him a pickup truck….well, you get the idea!
October and November’s Mission Focus will be Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes. There are shoeboxes in the community room, by the front door and on the table in the Fireside Room.
During the month of October, we will be collecting small clothing items such as socks, underwear, hats, scarves, etc. for our Operation Christmas Child extra shoeboxes. Anne Stevens would also like to suggest you consider buying some flip-flops – most stores have them discounted to under $1.00 now. The collection basket is under the table in the foyer.
The next day of Prayer and Fasting, as called for by our Bishop, will take place this Friday, October 2. Our focus in October will be on The Mission of the Church. Conference-wide we are embracing a shared opportunity to join our hearts and bend our knees in some regular times of fasting and prayer on the first Friday of each month. You will find a bulletin in the Prayer Corner at the front of the sanctuary with suggested prayers and centering Bible scriptures to help you focus your thoughts on October 2.
We’ve just made it easier for you to add someone/something to our Prayer Chain. Using your computer, phone or tablet, just end a message to email@example.com. This will send your request to Mary Williams and Pam Plassmann and they will send it out to our prayer warriors here at Waterville United Methodist Church. This information is also included on the back page of your bulletin cover.
Parents with kids in Youth Group – the deadline to sign your child up for this summer’s Mission Trip is Sunday, October 18. A $50.00 deposit is needed. If you have any questions, please contact Adam Shelton.
And speaking of the Youth Group, they will be available to do their annual Leaf Raking Fundraiser on Sunday, November 1 and Sunday, November 8. All money earned from this activity will go towards their mission trip in 2016. If you need some help with your yardwork, please let Adam know and he will put you on their schedule.
Be a Blessing,
